27th August to 28th August 2016
The fair at Birr Castle is recognised as a major event for those who live, work or play in the Irish Countryside. As the national game fair of Ireland, it stages a number of international competitions and displays including clay pigeon shooting, archery, carriage driving, fly casting, dog shows, and gundog competitions.
In addition, the event has wide family appeal from cognate country living attractions such as the Fine Food Festival with cookery demos by celebrity chefs; a Living History Village (including exciting medieval jousting displays and encampments); a huge tented village of trade stands offering great country lifestyle shopping; lots of 'have a go' opportunities and two action packed arena programmes.
