National Drawing Day - Saturday 19th May, 11am-1pm, The Arthouse and Library, Stradbally, Co Laois.

All ages welcome to a fun and creative morning with participating artists. This is time to embrace your creative side.

Drawing is a universal language understood by everyone regardless of age, language or nationality. Participants will try out different ways of drawing which will be both a learning experience.

This is a free workshop but participants are asked to bring a sketch pad and pencils/pens/charcoal etc. (Some supplies will be provided)

Resident artist Lorraine Walsh will also be running a fun drawing workshop in her studio on National Drawing Day. Make a drawing with your child, your niece, nephew, your cousin or your Granny and Granddad. See that drawing come to life in a short animated film.

This is a free workshop all supplies will be provided.

Rose of Tralee Regional Finals Festival, Portlaoise, County Laois, 31 May - 3 June 2012

Rose of Tralee Regional Finals are held every year before the Rose of Tralee International Festival to determine which Roses will represent their territories at the international festival in August. This 5-day event will form the perfect backdrop to a wonderful midsummer family festival in Portlaoise featuring a whole range of family fun events including a funfair, live music, Rose Selections and the Gordon Bennett Irish Classic Car Run. There will be floats, marching bands and a magnificent variety of entertainment to suit all ages.

Visitors travel from all over the world to Portlaoise to attend the American, Canadian, European and British Regional Finals along with the annual Irish Regional Final of the world famous Rose of Tralee. The highlight of the weekend will come when 23 Roses are selected to travel to Tralee in August for the Rose of Tralee International Festival.

11th Annual Laois Walks Festival, County Laois, 1-29th July 2012

The Annual Laois Walks Festival is a unique month long looped walks festival featuring walks in a variety of terrains including woodland, mountain, canal, bog and old country lanes. Each walk is led by a local guide and refreshments are provided by the local communities giving visitors a taste of local hospitality.
