Free Family Fun Day, Athlone Regional Sports Centre, Sunday, May 20th, 2012
As part of the 10th Anniversary celebrations.
There are two sessions:
Morning Session
10am - 12 noon
- Family Swim (Free Swim for all the family.)
- Family Gym (Train together. Children must be 11yrs upwards)
- Cycling Skills Session (10yrs plus with Westmeath Sports Partnership, Bikes supplied if required)
- Zumba Fitness Class (As exercise crazes go, Zumba has got to be one of the biggest – Experience why?)
- Kids club For the 5 – 11 yr olds. (Booking in advance may be advisable).
Afternoon Session
2pm - 4pm
- Family Swim (Free Swim for all the family.)
- Family Gym (Train together. Children must be 11yrs upwards)
- Sample the Olympics (7yrs plus with Westmeath Sports Partnership, Try out all the fun athletic skills)
- Body RIP Fitness Class (Experience an amazing body workout)
- Kids club For the 5 – 11 yr olds. (Booking in advance may be advisable).
Would you like a little ME time? Hand over you children if they are aged between 5 – 11yrs.
Parents [10am–12noon & 2pm–4pm]
We will mind them for FREE while you sample a fitness class, relax with a dip in the pool or try out the gym.
(Booking in advance may be advisable).

Castlepollard Balloon Festival, Tullynally Castle, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, 31 May- 4 June 2012
The Castlepollard Balloon Festival will play host to the 13th Irish One Man Meet for the very first time, over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Balloon teams will converge from all over the world to participate in the four day spectacular.
There will be over 15 colourful hot air balloons flying over the beautiful Westmeath countryside, setting off from the magnificent parkland of Tullynally Castle. The balloons will go up twice daily, morning and evening, weather permitting and should be a wonderful spectacle for all ages.

Goldsmith International Literary Festival 2012, Friday 1st - Sunday 3rd June 2012
Goldsmith International Literary Festival is the third oldest event of its type in Ireland. Happening annually over the June Bank Holiday Weekend it takes place in the South Longford-Westmeath area that is becoming increasingly known as Goldsmith Country
It was re-branded from The Goldsmith Summer School in 2006 and the event has recently undergone a transformation to become more cutting edge and to address some of the most topical and controversial issues facing 21st century Ireland. Building on its previous twenty-plus years, it has established itself as one of the foremost and most highly respected schools of its type in Ireland with all aspects of Goldsmith's life, writings, and society having been explored over the years.
