ShakeFest 2012, Charleville Castle, Tullamore, County Offaly, 26-27 May 2012

Shakefest – a celebration of dance, is a successful venture associated with Charleville Castle's many successful creative and musical pursuits towards a gathering of local spirit. This is a community run holistic fair day for families, international dance enthusiasts and active citizens.

Shake is an educational series of dance workshops with a multicultural and international theme in line with a new Ireland, that leads to an evening of a multicultural dance of excellence.

This year Charleville Castle hosts Middle Eastern dancer and instructor Assale Ibrahim, from Switzerland. Assale is originally from Iraq and will be teaching her Irish and multinational students a Gypsy choreography native to her home Iraq, as well as classical Bellydance Sharqi with 2 veils. It is important to promote the talents and cultural background of such international guests to further promote a community and world without borders.

Rose of Tralee Regional Finals Festival, Portlaoise, County Laois, 31 May - 3 June 2012

Rose of Tralee Regional Finals are held every year before the Rose of Tralee International Festival to determine which Roses will represent their territories at the international festival in August. This 5-day event will form the perfect backdrop to a wonderful midsummer family festival in Portlaoise featuring a whole range of family fun events including a funfair, live music, Rose Selections and the Gordon Bennett Irish Classic Car Run. There will be floats, marching bands and a magnificent variety of entertainment to suit all ages.

Visitors travel from all over the world to Portlaoise to attend the American, Canadian, European and British Regional Finals along with the annual Irish Regional Final of the world famous Rose of Tralee. The highlight of the weekend will come when 23 Roses are selected to travel to Tralee in August for the Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Castlepollard Balloon Festival, Tullynally Castle, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, 31 May- 4 June 2012

The Castlepollard Balloon Festival will play host to the 13th Irish One Man Meet for the very first time, over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Balloon teams will converge from all over the world to participate in the four day spectacular.

There will be over 15 colourful hot air balloons flying over the beautiful Westmeath countryside, setting off from the magnificent parkland of Tullynally Castle.  The balloons will go up twice daily, morning and evening, weather permitting and should be a wonderful spectacle for all ages.
