Arts Act Grants 2014 Now Open for applications
Published: 13th January 2014
Applications are now invited by Offaly County Council from community groups and individuals involved in the arts for funding for projects in 2014.
The grant scheme is open to organisations such as drama and musical groups, town bands, choirs, voluntary community organisations and individual artists proposing projects within the community.
Funding is limited under this scheme and priority will be given to specific projects which are innovative, produce maximum community impact and provide professional arts and cultural experiences and applications should not be made without thought given to the above goals.
Voluntary and community arts organisations together with individual artists have benefited from Offaly County Council’s Arts Act Grants for decades. Last year the grants funded a diverse range of projects including drama and musical productions, a youth film project, professional artist research and exhibition, tutors and new music for town bands, circus workshops for teenagers, a preview of a National Concert Hall performance by the Academy Chamber Ensemble and new music and tour for an award winning local choir.
Arts Officer Sinéad O’Reilly said, “Inevitably there will be more applications than we have funding for, so the process is competitive. Cultural development is still integral to building communities and promoting the county, so we will support projects which will stimulate this process while providing a high quality experience for participants. It is important that the guidelines are read carefully before an application is made as we have refined them recently, and of course we are happy to answer any queries before applications are made.”
Application forms and guidelines can be downloaded from www.offaly.ie or requested by email from firstname.lastname@example.org or over the phone on 05793 57400. The closing date for all applications is Friday February 14th 2014 at 3pm.
