“We are delighted with the quality of applications that people are putting forward, which goes to show that culture and the arts are an ongoing element of many community group’s social responsibility and the personal development of their members. From the applications we know that hundreds of young people are benefiting from this scheme, from music tuition to performing on stage and the adults are not too far behind. And many artists are receiving employment as a result also” said Arts Officer Sinead O’Reilly.

“These grants are just one of the ways we can support local groups to be culturally ambitious”, continues Sinead, “we are currently looking for drama groups, choirs, bands, artists and musicians to perform and host events for Culture Night on Friday 18 Sept. We can also help promote events, highlight projects in the Midlands Arts and Culture Magazine and other supports to both the voluntary and professional arts sector in Offaly”
