Published: 3rd May 2013
The Arts Office, Laois County Council is delighted to host an exhibition of paintings by The Heath Art Group entitled “Never too Late”. The exhibition will be officially launched by local Fashion Designer Heidi Higgins on Thursday 9th May at 7.30pm in Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise in conjunction with the Laois Bealtaine Festival 2013.
Comprising of over 40 paintings in both oils and acrylic, the exhibition will include work inspired by springtime and the growth that the new season brings to the landscape and to nature.
The Heath Art Group was formed in 2006 with the support of Laois V.E.C. community education, who funded an art tutor, Antoinette Breen. The group have flourished over the years and welcomed new members to join them for regular workshops in the Old Heath Hall on Wednesday evenings. Funding has also been received through Laois County Council’s Arts Act Grants to help progress the work of the group. The ten members have worked over the winter months in preparation for this exhibition.
“Our highlight in 2013 will be taking part in the Laois Bealtaine Festival. The name we have chosen “Never too Late’ means just that, you can pick up a paint brush at any age and enjoy what you create. To quote Nan ‘I would never miss a class I enjoy art so much’. Our art class is open to all in the community both young and old.”
This wonderful exhibition will run from Thursday 9th May until Friday 31st May and can be viewed by the public in Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
The Arts Office acknowledges the financial support of the Arts Council in making the Arts Programme possible.
