Science Week Events in Laois
Published: 24th October 2013
Science Week takes place from 11th to 17th November and aims to raise awareness of the importance of science in our everyday lives. We are delighted to be taking part in this year’s Midlands Festival of Science, organised by Atlantic Corridor, which will see numerous events, talks and workshops being held in primary and secondary schools around the region.
Public events in Laois include:
Star-gazing In Stradbally, 8pm on Saturday 16th November in Stradbally Library
An evening of talks and (weather permitting!) practical demonstrations on astronomy, courtesy of the Midlands Astronomy Club
How Your Brain Works, Tuesday 12th November at 11am, Mountmellick Library
A morning talk with questions and answers with leading neuro-scientist Deborah Saucier of the University of Ontario IOT.
Curious Experiments, Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise Tuesday 12th & Wednesday 13th November, 10am - 5.30pm
Curious Experiments is a recent competition run by the amazing and inspiring Marsh Library, which encouraged students re-create experiments that were first advertised in 1743 in Dublin in a series of posters that appeared around the city.
