A new twist on the literary celebration of Leopold Bloom’s Dublin travels in ""Ulysses"". Mullingar in Westmeath is the only other area of Ireland Joyce spent time in outside of Dublin. In 1900 his father, Stanislaus, was employed to sort out the electoral rolls in Westmeath and stayed in Levington Park where the author JP Donleavy currently resides. The young James spent two summers on vacation from UCD in Mullingar and used the area as a base for some of his later literary characters. He recounts the tale of the Wicked Earl of Belvedere House in the Wandering Rocks section of ""Ulysses"". Come and enjoy Bloomsday in Mullingar where you will discover the rich history of the area and how it influenced the works of one of Irelands most celebrated writers.
