Food Futures 2030

The first ever Food Futures 2030 event will take place in The Heritage Killenard on March 21st 2018. The event is being run by Laois County Council in conjunction with Laois LEO and Laois Partnership, as part of the Connect 2 Laois for Food programme.

This exciting event will bring food service operators, food producers and buyers together under the one roof. The event will be MC’ed by James Burke of James Burke & Associates.

With registration and networking taking place from 9am to 10am, the day includes an exciting line up of speakers including Domini Kemp from ITSA, Darina Allen from Ballymaloe Cookery School, Olivia Duff from Boyne Valley Food Series, Headford Arms, Fáilte Ireland Food Ambassador, Grace Binchy from Bord Bia’s Thinking House, Paddy O’Connell of Paddy O’s Granola, Andi Jarvis from Eximo Marketing and a focus on the Retail Sector including Colin Jephson from Ardkeen Quality Food Store. The event will close at 4pm.

A centre piece of the day will be a Producer Showcase of local food producers.

Food Futures 2030 is an industry event targeting buyers, suppliers, those working in the food, tourism, hospitality & retail sectors. If you are thinking of starting a business in the food or hospitality business, join us to hear our exciting speakers, panel discussions and Showcase of Laois food.

Note: Food Futures 2030 is being organised as part of the REDZ funded Connect 2 Laois for Food programme. Connect 2 Laois for Food is a collaborative project between Laois County Council, the Local Enterprise Office and Laois Partnership. Connect 2 Laois for Food is aimed at supporting and nurturing start-up and established businesses in the County and allow them to have access to a programme of supports to improve their businesses. Over 12 months local food .producers & food service providers are availing of specialist training and mentoring. James Burke & Associates, Ireland's leading Food Consultants and Retail Advisors, are delivering the programme.

National Heritage Week 17th - 25th August 2019
This year the theme for National Heritage Week is Pastimes | Past Times. This theme gives a unique look at how our ancestors spent their time, from medieval battle to Victorian fern collecting, and everything in between. See how these pastimes have changed over time, or in some cases, how they have not changed at all. Come along to Heritage Week 2019 and immerse yourself in a fascinating look at the past.

THE 55TH ANNUAL STRADBALLY NATIONAL STEAM RALLY
The 55th event in the series will take place on Sunday August 4th and Monday August 5th 2019. This is considered by many to be the premier event in the calendar of steam and vintage shows throughout Ireland. It attracts a wide range of working exhibits and a huge attendance of visitors. It is much enhanced by its very convenient location to the rear of Main Street, adjacent to all of the town facilities. The rallies are approved under the code of conduct of the National Traction Engine Trust.

51st Annual Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival
