OFFALY100 Commemoration & Concert
20th March 2016
Candlelit Procession Tullamore Courthouse @ 5:45pm
Info: ASSEMBLE AT THE MONUMENT, COURTHOUSE, TULLAMORE
Together we remember the Offaly contribution towards Irish Independence by the raising of the Irish Flag, the laying of a wreath and the reading of the Proclamation. Led by a lone piper, at dusk we will proceed in a candlelit walk to Colmcille Street to the scene where, on 20th March 1916, an incident led to Padraig Pearse saying ‘A great deed was done last night at Tullamore, when blood was shed in defence of the Volunteers’ right to carry arms...’ The unveiling of a new flagstone to mark this location will take place and the piper will lead us on to the Church of Assumption.
Centenary Concert Church of the Assumption @ 7pm
