4000 Year Old Cold Case: The Body in the Bog

Published: 27th November 2013

A documentary about the world's oldest fleshed Bog Body, Cashel Man is to air on BBC4 on Thursday 28th November at 9 pm.

Cashel Man was discovered by Bord na Mona worker Jason Phelan, in Cashel bog, Co Laois, in 2011. The documentary titled “4000 Year Old Cold Case: The Body in the Bog” tells the story of the forensic investigation, as international scientists and archaeologists convened in Dublin to determine who this man was and ask why he died. The team is led by Ned Kelly, Keeper of Antiquities at the National Museum of Ireland, and Irish State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy. Both have worked together on investigations into previous Irish bog body finds. Now, will what the team discover help prove Ned’s theory these bodies are the corpses of murdered prehistoric kings?
