€210,000 Announced for Music Capital Scheme 2014

Published: 27th August 2014

Music Network welcomed the recent announcement by Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht confirming capital funds of €210,000 for the Music Capital Scheme 2014.

The Music Capital Scheme, supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and managed by Music Network, provides funding for the purchase of musical instruments to both non-professional performing groups/ensembles (such as town bands) and professional musicians.

Locally, Arts Officer Sinéad O’Reilly remarked, “This is a great opportunity for local music ensembles and professional musicians to add to their instrument banks. While we have Music Generation Offaly/Westmeath up and running in the region for young people, we unfortunately are not eligible to make an application ourselves, but we would encourage others to apply and perhaps locally Music Generation can then provide tutor assistance for a new youth element to an existing group.”

Contact programmesadmin@musicnetwork.ie for details and guidelines and application forms are on www.musicnetwork.ie To find out how to partner with Music Generation Offaly/Westmeath please contact Margaret Broome Development Officer 057 9357400 or mbroome@offalycoco.ie

Deadline for the Music Capital scheme is 4pm Friday 10th October 2014
