€5m deal allows gas to extend from Athlone to Ballymahon
Published: 30th November 2017
The government has signed a €5-million deal that will allow a gas pipeline to run from Athlone to Ballymahon.
Earlier this year, Center Parcs struck an agreement with Gas Networks Ireland that would allow fuel to be provided to its new Longford Forest project, set to open in 2019.
The source of the pipeline wasn’t then known. However, over the past 24 hours, Finance Minister Paschal Donohue has signed a deal that will allow gas to be provided from Athlone.
With the extension coming to Center Parcs from Athlone, it’ll enable the pipeline to be further extended into Longford town at a later point.
