Published: 11th March 2013
The seventh phase of the European Destinations of Excellence competition (EDEN) is now underway. This year’s theme of excellence is accessible tourism and applications are now invited.
The overall aim of the EDEN project is to draw attention to the value, diversity and shared characteristics of European destinations and to promote destinations in a way that ensures the social, cultural and environmental sustainability of tourism.
This year’s key objective is to select one destination of excellence which demonstrates the application of principles of accessible tourism.
The winning destination in Ireland will receive:
- A photo shoot of the destination,
- €5,000 for business development support initiatives,
- A certificate of achievement and an awards ceremony
All applicants will receive a written report on their application with expert feedback from the adjudicators.
Also the EU will offer the winner in each Member State international promotion of the destination through the EDEN web-portal, promotion of the destination through Ireland’s EDEN web-portal, a short promotional video and participation in the EU EDEN network.
