From Youth Theatre to the Silver Screen

Published: 15th September 2014

Members of Offaly Youth Theatre Tullamore got together for a fun photo shoot last week to announce their return this autumn

Jamie Nolan was fresh from the Tullamore premier of A Nightingale Falling where he earned his first feature film role (announcing the end of the Irish Civil War, no less!) and has also been offered a part in TADS upcoming production of Marina Carr’s A Giant Blue Hand, which will tour Offaly as part of Hullabaloo Children’s Arts Festival next month.

Maura Cunningham who is the Youth Arts Coordinator with Offaly County Council, said “ I remember hearing Sam Keeley speak to members of Offaly Youth Theatre a year or two ago and saying ‘I wish there was a Youth Theatre in Offaly when I was growing up’, so it’s great to see that our members are already bringing their skills to film and theatre and that they have someone like Sam to look up to locally”.
