Laois County Council Arts Office presents Leaves Literary Festival 2013

Celebrating its fifth year, the annual Leaves Literary Festival 2013, promises wonderful opportunities to listen to and become involved in the very best of Irish writing.
The programme includes readings, creative writing workshops, talks, children’s events and music.
The Festival commences on Friday 8th November with an evening of readings and music with contributions by Michael Harding, Rita Kelly and Mary O’Donnell and music by Lily Kettle, starting at 8pm in the Arthouse, Stradbally, Co Laois.
On Friday popular children’s author Grace Wells will pay a visit to the county in Laois and give a Library reading. Admission to this event is Free.
On Saturday 9th November, from 11am -4pm, a writer’s workshops entitled 'Getting Started in Writing' will take place in the Dunamaise Arts Centre hosted by Rita Kelly.
Also in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, at 4.00pm on Saturday, Dr Arthur Broomfield will introduce his book on the works of Samuel Beckett, entitled, “The Empty Too”. Admission to this event is Free.
On Saturday evening we are delighted to host an Evening with Poet Paul Durcan to take place in the wonderful surroundings of Preston House, Abbeyleix. Paul will read from his latest book and selected poems. Music will be performed by Harpist, Claire O Donnell. The award winning Preston House Restaurant is offering an early bird dinner prior to the event - contact Preston House on 057 8731432.
