Launch of Offaly Bealtaine Festival Programme 2013

Published: 23rd April 2013

Offaly over 55’s are invited to the launch of Offaly Bealtaine Festival Programme 2013 on Monday 29th April 2013 @ 2pm in Tullamore Dew Visitors Centre

The Bealtaine Festival runs nationally throughout May and aims to encourage creativity as we age. This year our theme is set around the remarkable and memorable year 1963. A year that JFK & the Beatles came to visit, Martin Luther King gave his speech ‘I have a dream’ and hula hoops were patented!

As well as the usual music, song and storytelling events we also have exhibitions and projects that you can become involved in.

The brochure can be viewed on line at www.offaly.ie/arts . To list but a few:-

  • Showband Night – Enjoy and night with friends listening to your favourite sounds of the 60’s and hip hop with Jive Inferno
  • 1963 – We are seeking submissions from Artists and the Public for 1963 inspired art and memorabilia for an exhibition in Tullamore. Can you help?
  • 1963 Memory – Come to Public Access Arts in Edenderry and take a trip back to 1963 as we exhibit the famous quotes and images of the time. Then write down your memories in our memory book.
  • Workshops/Talks – There is plenty to keep you interested - Art, Pottery, Prints making, Hula Hoop Dancing, Jive Dancing, Knitting, Historical Talks, Creative writing.
