Official Handover of €155,210 to Tullamore Arts Centre
Published: 19th November 2012
Tullamore Community Arts Centre were last week officially handed over the €155,210 raised during the recent prize draw which took place last April. The draw, which saw over 4,000 people contribute from Tullamore, across Offaly and around the world reached 75% of the target of €200,000 which the local Fundraising team have committed too.
Speaking at the hand over, Chairman Des Doyle thanked the many people who got behind the draw and stated that now that planning permission has been achieved the project is another step closer to reality. He paid tribute the draw committee, in particular to Paddy Fenning who demonstrated great leadership in driving it forward. He also paid tribute to the arts centre board who, behind the scenes have been working tirelessly and diligently for many years on work that often doesn’t get acknowledged.
Paddy Fenning said he was very proud of the many people who supported the draw, of the team leaders and almost 130 ticket sellers around the town. Also speaking at the occasion Cllr. Lar Byrne Chairman of Tullamore Town Council, said that this was a great positive project for Tullamore, an arts centre is for the people and the amount of people who have driven it this far shows how badly needed it is. He wished the board every success and support as they drive it forward and wished the fundraising team well as they meet the final challenge of raising €45,000.
There are plans afoot to make the final amount, and the fundraising team are currently coordinating ideas and events.
