Published: 23rd May 2014
Tracy McEvoy from Tullamore is a graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design graduating with a BA in Fine Art Painting in 2000. This June and she presents her first solo exhibition “Nine Cups at the Castle” in Aras an Chontae, Tullamore and generously she is donating proceeds to the Attic Therapy Centre.
Tracy’s recent paintings are reflective of her interest in the mystic and magical and she draws on family and domestic imagery to depict this. Her own personal experiences run as a narrative through the paintings, so domestic images of family and her interest in dance and Charleville Castle also come through. The archetypal messages in tarot are a thread connecting the work together. Tray says “Some of the work comes across as very personal but that’s true as some of the images are my interpretation or experience of the archetypal messages in tarot. For instance the presence of a sword in some of the paintings represent difficulties of the mind or challenges of the everyday”
All paintings are oil on canvas and 30% of any sale will go towards the Attic Therapy Centre in Tullamore, which Tracy admits is ”a great place to go if you’re a dancer in need of repair” The exhibition opens on June 6th at 6.30pm in Aras an Chontae, Tullamore and Tracy extends the invitation that all are welcome. It will continue until June 20th, open Mon – Fri 9.30am to 4pm.
