The Midlands Ireland Showcase is a free-to-attend event taking place at the TUS International Arena, Athlone on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 10am to 4pm.

For the first time, Midlands Ireland will bring the region’s businesses, educators, communities and innovators together as a collective to highlight the unique strengths, education opportunities, and supports that the region offers.
The Midlands Showcase is a place to experience our thriving businesses, university, training and apprenticeships, arts, heritage, and must-visit attractions. We will be celebrating the creativity, innovation, and collaboration across Ireland’s Midlands region, showcasing it as a destination to Live, Work, Visit, Study and Invest.
Who should attend The Midlands Showcase?
Anyone can attend this event! If you’re interested in seeing what the Midlands has to offer, we encourage you to come along to gain an insight into Life in the Midlands.
We anticipate an audience that will range from job seekers to students, through to enterprises and national stakeholders.
Our Showcase Areas
Study
The study showcase area will allow attendees to engage with third-level colleges such as Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone, who will be exhibiting the wide array of courses and research on offer at the college.
The Midlands regions’ Education and Training Boards will be showcasing apprenticeship upskilling and reskilling opportunities for all ages, along with ESB, ReSHAPE and Midlands Skills.
There will also be a specialised demo area with STEM officers and Microsoft on hand. Don’t miss this area for a chance to see some robots in action on a running track!
Work
Stop by the work showcase area to network with Midlands-based companies, including Abbott Ireland, Ericsson, Mersus Technologies and TAPiTAG. Many of these companies will be displaying and demonstrating some of their new technologies, so be sure to take a look and try out the technology for yourself!
The Local Enterprise Offices will be on site to supply information on supports available for start-ups and existing businesses in the region. They will be showcasing some of their flagship companies.
Live
Visit the live showcase area to learn about Town Regeneration and Climate Action initiatives, and celebrate the Midlands’ vibrant Arts, Heritage and Libraries. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn and interact with initiatives and events taking place throughout the region.
Attendees can explore captivating installations, including the alluring Longford Lights, which shine a spotlight on the Midlands’ artistic and cultural heritage. There will be a magical Swift Talk by Ricky Whelan with illuminations by artist Caroline Conway. Longford artist Luke Casserly will bring you on a performative journey by talking you through an Irish bog landscape.
Visit Our Three Stages for Panel Discussions
There will be 3 stages at the showcase – a Main Stage, an Innovation Stage and a Skills & Supports Stage.
Gráinne Seoige, the MC on the day, will host panel discussions around topics such as Just Transition, Investing in the Midlands, STEM Education, Expanding into Tourism, Supporting Business, Creating Clusters and Collectives, Re-skilling, Sustainability, Organic Food, and Regenerative Tourism.
