The CUBE – Portlaoise

The CUBE Low Carbon Centre of Excellence is a unique Innovation Centre in the heart of Portlaoise, and Ireland’s newest space for supporting Sustainability and Decarbonisation for Business.


The CUBE is strategically positioned in the Midlands as a region which is uniquely positioned to deliver a cluster of Low Carbon-based activity that will stimulate growth, innovation and investment into the region and into Ireland for the future.

The 10,000 square foot Low Carbon Centre of Excellence is a dedicated centre for the development of new business and economic activity, supporting and assisting businesses in the Midlands region in their transition to a low carbon economy. This exemplar low carbon facility is the first of its kind in the region and is located in the heart of Portlaoise’s Cultural Quarter. The CUBE works to support and stimulate the development of enterprise and jobs in Laois and the wider Midlands region.

Design and Scale

  • Access to a network of facilities, research, and thought leaders. Delivery of idea generation boot camps and commercialisation programmes for start-ups and larger industry in new innovations and processes that will decarbonise, create efficiencies, and future-proof industry.

Finance and Funding

  • Provision of support in the confidential fundraising of projects from a network of investors and debt solution providers.
  • The CUBE provides consultancy services to businesses located in Laois and the Midlands region, ensuring ensuring your business is best positioned for success

Education and Training

  • The CUBE works with a number of training providers to “best in class” delivery of training and education, establishing a regional competitive advantage for businesses on their decarbonisation journey.

High Potential start-up and Research Incubation

  • The CUBE collaborates with third-level institutions and provides an incubatory space for research and development of world-class technologies, and early-stage innovations in the fields of low carbon and renewables
