The Dean Crowe Theatre and Arts Centre is a long established theatre with modern facilities located in the Left Bank area of Athlone. The theatre provides an entertaining and varied programme of events throughout the year including the annual RTE All Ireland Drama Festival, drama, comedy, musicals, music, opera, dance, art exhibitions, children’s events and much more.
Nestled in the tree lined Oxmantown Mall, Birr Theatre and Arts Centre is a dedicated purpose-built theatre which dates from 1888. Birr Stage Guild set about restoring and refurbishing this Victorian theatre building to its original glory with seating capacity for 220. The programme of events includes theatre, music – classical, contemporary, folk, jazz etc, film, dance, comedy, as well as a number Festivals (Birr Festival of Music & Voice, Hullabaloo! Offaly’s Children’s Arts Festival, OFFline Film Festival, Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival, Scripts, Ireland’s Playwriting Festival)
Located in the heart of Portlaoise, the Dunamaise Theatre and Arts Centre is a gem in the heart of the Midlands. It comprises of an intimate and state of the art 240 seat theatre, a cinema, gallery, café and workshop spaces. The theatre plays host to a wide range of national and international performing and visual arts including theatre, music, dance, film, literature, comedy, and pantomime. The centre is also a host venue for workshops and many local performance groups.
Backstage Theatre opened its doors in April 1995. A purpose–built state of the art theatre, Backstage was from the outset a community driven project. Since 1995, the theatre has been committed to a central role as a regional Theatre – planned as “A Theatre for Longford” which is accessible, participatory and enhances the cultural infrastructures of the region.
Mullingar Arts Centre has been in operation for 25 years, and comprises a 378–seat auditorium, hospitality area and 3 workshop areas. The Arts Centre provides workshops in Art, Music, Dance/Ballet, Crafts, Drama ( for adults, children, disadvantaged and those with special needs). The Centre is all inclusive, with a mission for the education of children into the whole area of the Arts.
Situated in the heart of Tullamore, Esker Arts is is the newest addition to the Midlands Arts scene. It includes a 228-seat performing arts space, an open-air Amphitheatre, gallery spaces, workshops as well as a coffee shop and theatre bar.
